Windows XP – Royal Noir

I noticed I got a bit toasted by the massive previous post. Been lacking in the desire to write department these days, but today I found a reason to post. Good news, stuff like that. This is awesome by the way.

If you’ve ever seen my computer, or seen me on your computer, you’ll know that I can’t stand the Windows XP themes. They look horrid. They make me feel icky feelings, and I get this massive urge to press System + Break and turn off all visualizations and effects. I really, really hate them. It was one of the first things I turned off when I got Win XP back in the days, and it’s one of the first things I do on a new installation. Until now.

I never realized there would be a different theme out there, made my Microsoft. I’m not sure if I should consider them assholes for “hiding” this theme here, or if I should worship them for letting it out at all. It’s really changed my perception of skinning XP and my programs, since suddenly I had something that looked good next to it. I absolutely refused to install additional programs to skin my computer as it really does degrade performance quite a bit.

So, I’m going to get to the point. Check this out!

Now, how’s that for some sexy stuff? Yes, I’m in love with dark frames and bright content for some reason, so sue me. Thanks to Long Zheng from istartedsomething.com!

Hmm, that does look a lot less “fisher pricey”… I was gonna say there for a second it looks kinda like Vista, but I guess that’s just your Opera skin.

Personally I prefer light and bright skins, and would not turn town something even brighter than the OSX default, but I know a lof ot people prefer the DOS-days of white text on black so, I’m not judging you ;)

Actually, I really love bright ones too, I just prefer darker ones. I just detest the bright and flashy ones with a nasty gloss like Win XP’s themes :P
