I’m pretty satisfied with the result as it is now, and it’s been an interesting learning experience. Will probably fiddle a lot more with it as time goes by, adding stuff there and such.

It’s gotten a surprising amount of visits too. Makes me happy to know it’s useful to others as well.

I might just like the attention atleast, and posts never feel pointless that way. I don’t feel guilty about not posting, curiously enough, I just feel good about people visiting. New, or old readers, I can’t say I know, and I’m not entirely sure if it’s important. So whether or not it’s anything interesting or remotely cool to read has nothing to do with it, as long as I try to keep up a modicum of quality. The quality isn’t there for just you, the readers, as much as it’s there for me, the writer, so I won’t fall into the evil pits of internet lingo retardism where I butcher some poor language with a dull baseball bat with a nail-gun attached to it. Which is something I strive for, not the molesting of a language, even though I can be forgetful, ignorant and lazy, but I will try to maintain a certain standard, or some minuscule amount of quality to what I write. That can be in the form of pictures, links, grammar, spelling, topic or variety. Who knows.

Yet it’s not a conscious choice how I want to write a post, or what I want to fill it with, atleast not in the beginning, because usually the beginning is a massive mess of random thoughts I hammer down before I forget them. Or decide to do something else, or maybe a new thought’d pop up in my head, because I get easily sidetracked. Very easily. I had a massive backlog of about 16 posts, most of them scrapped now because they were outdated or uninteresting to me, only a month ago. Sometimes it crosses my mind to do something about them, post them regardless of time or interest, but I’ve come to the point where I realize that those posts generally tend to fall apart because I’m not really putting anything into it, it just turns generic.

When I do that I kind of cross that gulf where I feel I’m sacrificing quality of content to blog-output, and I have a hard time justifying it. Which doesn’t mean that all the posts I’ve posted are quality, pure and simple. Far from it, but if they lack quality of every kind, I’ve atleast been motivated, regardless of state of mind. Sometimes that can turn my posts into heaps of crap though, states of mind. I can be restless and eager to write it out as fast as possible, or I can be slow and careful when writing. Fast posts are usually the ones I look back on and think that I should perhaps have slowed down and saved them for later, when I can look through it carefully. They tend to lack the quality, though they’ve got plenty of motivation. It’s a tricky balance, because they might end up in the heap if I take too long as well. On the other side, those are usually the ones I enjoyed the most to write.

It might be stupid as hell, but this messy crap I just wrote was a load of fun. I’ll use the word maybe again, that I may do this again sometime in the future. Maybe. It was fun, and I wrote fast and carefully avoid making the post look like shit. Just writing whatever’s on my mind right there and then.

The good thing is that after work there was a small christmas party with beer, porridge (graut), gløgg (wtf’s that in English?), flowers and stuff. I had a damned good time there for the 1.5 hours or so it lasted. The people I work with are so sweet and nice. One of my bosses is a bit of a braggart, and a senior employee’s got a big fucking mouth, so when those two talk you easily start wondering when the fists’ll start flying to show whose dick is the biggest. It’s hilarious to add the odd comment in there and see how they react.

The loud-mouth of them bought a shirt in Corfu with sheep on it, the two of them were talking about sheep-shearing and some other weird topics I didn’t particularly pay attention to when they got on the topic of him being on Corfu shearing sheep, and if he was doing it often. A colleague next to me, on the other side of me from them, snipes in with a comment going something like this, dripping with sarcasm and an air of matter-of-fact, “There’s sheep around when he’s there atleast”. I had trouble breathing for a while there. I couldn’t stop laughing at the implied meanings (yes, plural).

Got home and hit the sack for two hours, and didn’t do anything useful ’till bedtime around 4 in the morning. Holidays are in!

They really do.

The browser supports quick-searches (i.e. in the adress-bar you write ‘g sex’ and you’ll automagically google for sex), it has keyboard short-cuts for quite possibly every function in the whole damned program, and through opera:config you can edit it to your hearts content (my Opera menus are really small). Opera’s what you want it to be. You might be thinking that you don’t want the email/rss/irc/bittorrent/widget (gadget or plugin)/wand (autofill forms)/speed dial/mouse command/standards-support because you don’t need it. Perhaps you think something else is Gates’/Jobs’/Zawinski’s gift to the unwashed masses and would rather revel in them, that’s your prerogative, but I’ve used all the other “majors”, and I can tell you this; using them was like trying to run uphill. I kept thinking that it would be better at any moment because it was unfamiliar terrain, but in the end running uphill was running uphill.

Which ends my rant, and hopefully you’ll check out this little article by an Opera-employee about open standards which should be embraced by everyone that’s making browsers. *takes a deep breath* Thank you! *grins*

While we’re at it I’d like you to take another look at the picture I provided ( in case you can’t find the link in the throng of text up there I provided the link again! ). There’s the obligatory references to pussy and other things they’re sure you want to see more of the more they spam, the usual triple-X’s, and the …. wait… what?

In between there you can clearly see non-porn references. There was ALOT of non-porn references coming from ‘R & D Technologies, LLC’, an ISP from Las Vegas. Someone from that area sent around 400 quotes of obscure nature, some were references from literature such as the bible and other types of stuff. Can’t say I ever understood why they were there, but interesting to know that there are non-sexual/anatomous information around as well.

[Edit: "This is some of the spam", and adding "though before I updated ( and it's all wiped ) it reached 600 something....". Making posts while tired to bits and feeling slightly sick isn't good.]
