(AP|NA Old news by now, I know… )

I don’t really know how to put this in a simple and non-insulting manner, so I’m just going to be blunt about it. Chain-mails are utter, fucking bullshit. Which part of humanity is it that really believes these things? If something is so disastrously dangerous that the police, CNN, and/or Microsoft (well, the lot of them) thinks you badly need to know right fucking now, then you can bet your **** ass they wouldn’t bother to send the news around in the least credible, and most stupid manner contrived by the fellow man; chain mails. All right, not the most stupid, but it’s clawing its way to the top.

All right, all right, shit, I get it, I’m being overly insulting (… or am I?). People who aren’t versed in the intarwebz can get panicky about it. I get it. They don’t know what i.e. I know, but why is it so goddamned hard to do a simple google search, or ask your friendly neighborhood nerd/techie about it before passing it on to the rest of your contact list, thus spreading unnecessary panic like wildfire?

Oh, and if chainmails really had the effect they warned about, like you winning in the lottery if you sent it to at least 10 friends on your list, then you can safely assume you’d have to be sharing that jackpot with a lot of other chain mailers. Alternately, there’d be a lot of people without love in their lives. Oh, wait, maybe that’s where I’ve gone wrong my whole life… *shakes fist at fate*

We’re told by Dagbladet today that the shooter in Germany was good at Counter Strike, immediately conferring the notion that this is the real reason for the tragedy to occur. I have no doubt that these headlines are there to just spark interest and viewership, but the journalism in it is pretty damn fucking stupid. Stalin was a budding poet, Hitler wanted to paint, Pol Pot was a student in Paris, and Bush was a drug abuser, drinker and extremely social.

Dagbladet, you had a whole page to tell the world that the kid could have been abused, alone, in need of attention, desperate for help in some way, messed up by the parents, the world, the people around him, religion, ideology, something like that. Oh, and what about the fact that his father was a gun nut, harboring 15 bloody guns! You didn’t. You pointed out a game, most likely because that’s easier than doing real journalism with real digging.

I think it’s more likely the kid was drawn to that game because of certain tendencies, rather than the game creating certain tendencies.

When I mention to someone that I’m allergic to dust, and that doing everyday cleaning and stuff like that bogs up my head and nasal channels and that I really hate doing it, people snort and smile in an “Hah, I know what you are….” way. The fact of the matter is that whirling up all that dust is awful. It’s actually so awful that the average symptoms of me being a bit more tired, and with slightly more troubled breathing, is vastly preferred to 1 to 2 days of feeling messed up completely. That’s the sad soppy story. I try to do something about the dust as often as possible. I just really hate it, and the number of sources to feed my allergy is pretty staggering. Let’s take an example that suddenly occured to me one day:

Since I was a kid I’ve always loved sleeping without a pillow. I really detested pillows, and I could never really figure out why, because it’s usually far more comfortable to put my head down on a pillow than on a hard mattress or my shirt or whatever. So I’ve always been sleeping without a pillow, even in the military where I got some seriously odd looks from my officers that wanted to know why my bed was speshul and different from the others’ ( I even opted for sleeping without the actual stuffy thing inside the cover that I never remember the name of, but that’s because I can get so stupidly hot ).

This lasted until I had Deandri visiting this summer. I think it was during the summer. I kept using the pillow she had used because it still smelled like her and I’ve always liked the way her hair smells, even after the smell was gone and it’d been washed. So the pillow-cover was being washed, and I slept alot better all of a sudden. I mean way better. A week later I got around to putting the pillow back in place, and I slept better than the previous nights again! I instantly assumed that this was because I was having a bad week or something, so I plodded along like I always have.

The next time the pillow went back to being washed I believe I got the connection, if I remember correctly, because I had a rather decent nights sleep all of a sudden again. That was with all the bed-stuff nice and clean. You don’t suppose the stupid dust settles in the pillow in particular, and hits me straight in my ventilation-holes, do you? Argh! So obvious, yet it took me years and years to figure it out!

So now I wash the stuff as soon as I remember it, and I’ve quit using a pillow again, so I sleep alot better. Not as well as I’d like, but alot better. If I could only remember to wash it often enough!

My dear Dea got a foot-ache ( read more in her livejournal about it, and her ordeals in my parents humble abode ), so I had to go back to Bergen all alone, since I have to work. You know, that overrated stuff everyone’s so keen on me doing *grins* The day was pretty straigtforward and uneventful ( sorry, you whom I was with, but it was a boring day <.< ( On a side-note I think I finally found the perfect excuse to use whom ) ). The next day there again was pretty cool, the kid I was with is a genuinely cool guy, and alot of fun to spend time with, so it wasn’t anything but fun \o/ though there was alot of running, some jogging, and alot of sweating done. I even had to take a shower halfways through my shift at work because … in any case, it was nasty. Way too much high-energy activity there.

Then came the third day. A day filled with my 1 hour sleep looming behind in the horizon, and we went to Akvariet i Bergen, a place I haven’t been in for ages. I think I was there last time when I was 8, perhaps younger. I didn’t remember anything from the place at all. They had a spider/creepy section there, which I don’t think has anything to do with aquariums, but who am I to argue with their pretty fabulous way of doing things. There was quite alot of people there, on a weekday, so I’m assuming it’s actually maintaining that traffic for a major part of the year. Atleast I’m gonna hope so, because it looked to be a pretty great place, atleast for the younger kids. I think I saw three different groups of kids running around gawking and squealing at the sights ( and there was alot of scared little kids around the spiders, which was hilarious ) in the first 30 minutes alone. There just kept coming more and more of them, the kids that is, pesky creatures!

Then we watched the seals get fed ( we missed the feeding of the penguins because there were so many people there, basically blocking access for wheel-chair users ), which was fun, in a sad way. Poor buggers are trained to do tricks to get food, which makes me reflect on how we need to do tricks to get food as well. Then I thought about how easy it’d be to be a seal, though they’re basically locked away in an underwater prison. Sad stuff, but when I shrugged those thoughts off I realized I really enjoyed the show. The wonders of pushing stuff away.

So I slept for about 1 hour tonight, and I’m tired, yes. Really, really tired. Actually, the worst part is my foot-soles which are thrumming to the beat of the music, or my heartbeat. I’m not quite sure yet, but it’s an interesting, yet undesired feeling. Got back after work, did some shopping ( and all that, yadi yadi ya – except the part where we bought food and stuff at a place with some stupidly cheap food :O ), and then I hit the sack for an hour. Felt a little bit better when I woke up, atleast not as hot as I was during the day, and not half as weary.

I have a theory though, something that struck me the other day: If I sleep comfortably, I will have trouble getting up, and I’m not entirely sure I’m sleeping well either/or comfortable at all. If I sleep really uncomfortably I won’t be able to sleep, or might fall alseep eventually from exhaustion. In either case I won’t sleep particularly well! I’ve been sleeping fairly well at Daniel’s place, on a moderately comfortable bed, and I have little to no trouble getting up in the morning, even though I’ve slept only 1 hour O.O

Right, I know there was more I was about to write, but I don’t remember at the moment. For later then.

[Edit] Oh, and I finally figured out why the Linux-distribution was called Gentoo *grins*
